Jane Nalwoga, a 28-year-old mother of three from Mukono District, had always dreamed of starting her own business. But life had other plans. After her husband passed away, Jane was left to fend for her family alone. With no formal education or skills, she struggled to make ends meet, often relying on odd jobs that paid barely enough to put food on the table.
Then, Jane heard about VOGAfrica’s vocational training program. She enrolled in a tailoring course, determined to turn her life around. “I didn’t know how to even thread a needle when I started,” Jane recalls with a smile. “But the trainers were patient, and I was determined to learn.”
Six months later, Jane graduated with a sewing machine provided by VOGAfrica. Today, she runs a small tailoring business from her home, making school uniforms and dresses for her community. “I can now pay my children’s school fees and provide for my family,” she says proudly. “This program gave me hope and a future.”
Jane’s story is just one of many. Through our vocational training programs, VOGAfrica has empowered hundreds of women like Jane to break the cycle of poverty and build better lives for themselves and their families.
